ATLANTA, Ga. (July 21, 2022) -- Former first lady Michelle Obama has announced that she has a new book on the way this November.
In an Instagram video published on July 21st, Obama begins by acknowledging the amount of time that has transpired since her last book release in 2017.
“I can’t believe it’s been a few years since I published my memoir, “Becoming”, and in that time a lot has happened.”
She then goes on to describe some of the obstacles that she has faced during and after the pandemic and states that the reflection process has resulted in her new book, “The Light We Carry”.
According to AP News, “The Light We Carry” reflects on experiences and shares insights on navigating an increasingly stressful world.
The book will be released on November 15, 2022 — almost 4 years exactly from her “Becoming” release in 2018.
The collection of stories and reflections will be translated into 14 different languages with an initial U.S. print run of 2.75 million copies.
It’s worth mentioning that her 2018 memoir sold more copies than any memoir by a previous first lady or present-day president, with 17 million copies sold. It was named a New York Times notable book of the year, was accompanied by a global book tour that later was turned into a Netflix documentary, was translated into 50 different languages, and its audiobook, narrated by the author, won a grammy award for Best Spoken Word.
