What is mindfulness? Mindfulness is a psychological process of bringing one's attention to experience the present moment one can develop through practice of meditation. Mindfulness has been found to reduce depression, stress and anxiety.
Staying in the present may not always be an easy thing to do. Most of us deal with everyday stress, battling things we don't talk about, daily life struggles, etc. Practicing mindfulness through out the day develops positive effects in all areas of life. Being more in tune with your emotions and needs staying in the present.
Like they say you can't pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first. Mentally, physically and spiritually. Mindfulness is being aware of what is happening in the moment without wishing it were different. Each moment is meant to be experienced right now, because tomorrow isn't promised. Here are some helpful techniques on how mindfulness can help with anxiety, depression and stress.
• Letting go of control
One great tip a good friend of mine once told me, is that you can't force something you can't control. Therefore you shouldn't always feel like you have or need control over certain situations. We have no control over how things will turn out to be. The sooner we grasp this the happier we'll be.
• Your inner peace matters to YOU only!
A mistake few people make now a days is care what others may think of them. The truth is only you can manage your peace and happiness within. Not letting go of how others perceive you will never give you inner peace and you'll just be stuck on making others happy than yourself and that's obviously not healthy, because at the end of the day who is going to care for you as much as yourself? Especially on your lowest days?
• Out with the old in with the new
Take a step back and let go of the past & what no longer serves us. We have most control over our thoughts and only storing the negative ones is effecting us from moving forward. We tend to hold on to toxic things.
Lastly, take a deep breathe, look around and focus on what's happening in the moment. For example, feel the warm water hit you as soon as you shower & notice how good it feels on your skin. Listen to new music and focus on the beats or instruments in the background. Focus on all your senses. Add mindfulness to your everyday life. Hope this helped for a more blissful mind.
