Qantas, which is an Australian carrier, is offering flights to “nowhere”. These flights sold out in ten minutes, which according to Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce, “It’s probably the fastest selling flight in Qantas history."
With the limits on traveling due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that people miss flying and traveling. Qantas is one of the few airlines that have started offering sightseeing “flights” in order to try to cope with the loss of air travel. The seven hour flight guarantees its passengers scenic views over some of Australia’s great destinations such as the Sydney Harbour, Byron Bay, the Great Barrier Reef, and Kata Tjuta.
Qantas isn’t the only airline offering these flights to “nowhere”. EVA air, a flight carrier out of Taiwan offers its passengers a flight that both departs and lands in Taipei.
