Atlanta-based rapper DJ Unk suddenly passed away at the age of 43. His wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, confirmed that the cause was cardiac arrest.
The Atlanta legend gained popularity in the mid-2000s with hits like "Walk It Out" and "2 Step," which were both featured on his 2006 debut album, "Beat'n Down Yo Block!"
Long-Platt confirmed that DJ Unk, whose real name was Anthony Leonard Platt, died at the age of 43 in a Facebook post last Friday.
“Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same,” she wrote, adding, “I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”
His record label, Big Oomp Records, honored him as a "true ATL legend" and highlighted his contributions to the music industry. They emphasized that his energy, creativity, and commitment to his craft will be remembered and continue to inspire future artists.
